About Sandra

An understanding
of life in ministry.

Sandra Faccini smiling outdoors, wearing a clerical collar

I’m Sandra Faccini, an Anglican priest with over 20 years of ordained experience in suburban, semirural and rural settings, and as an Area Dean.

I understand how demanding church leadership can be, and how overwhelming or isolating it can sometimes feel. I offer pastoral supervision to clergy and lay ministers, providing support and opportunities for reflection, development and restoration.

I hold a Professional Diploma in Pastoral Supervision from the Institute of Pastoral Counselling and Supervision, alongside a B.Th. and MA in theology.

Before ordination, I worked in Biochemistry/Toxicology, in which I hold a BSc and PhD. Away from work, I enjoy walking, especially with my dog, spending time with family and friends, and travelling.

Explore the practical details

What is Pastoral Supervision?

Taking a step back.
Seeing more clearly.

A planned, safe, boundaried and confidential space in which we work together to explore the issues arising from pastoral work and its encounters.

Time apart from the busyness of ministry allows experience to become learning and development. Reflection brings theological, spiritual and vocational perspectives into conversation with psychological insight and the organisational or wider context of your work.

01

Reflection & understanding

02

Learning & development

Restoration & wellbeing

Receive support for your wellbeing and the flourishing of ministry, benefiting both you and those you serve.

For a detailed description, visit the Association for Pastoral Supervision and Education (APSE) (opens in a new tab).

How is it different?

A distinct kind
of conversation.

Pastoral supervision is primarily concerned with ministerial wellbeing, understanding the pastoral role and the flourishing of ministry.

My role is to facilitate and guide reflection, help shape action and work alongside you to deepen understanding and explore possible ways forward.

Distinct from line management

This is a collaborative space for reflection, rather than oversight or critique of a colleague.

Distinct from spiritual direction

Spiritual and theological perspectives can inform our work, but growth in spirituality or discipleship is not its primary aim.

Distinct from mentoring, coaching & psychotherapy

Supervision may share aspects of these disciplines, but has its own focus on pastoral practice. It is not intended as psychological therapy or primarily as support through a life crisis.
